Tonight's Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar was The Cautious Celibate Matter -- where Johnny Dollar spends the serial running away from a rich, eccentric, *gun-toting* client who seems to be wanting Johnny to marry his niece, even if it requires a shotgun wedding.

The part where Johnny explains that he likes women fine, but doesn't want to get married yet to his employer (who is in on the plan to get Johnny somewhere where he has to talk to the rich, eccentric, *gun-toting* client) to the point of jumping out of an office window, is a reminder that past really is a different country.

Tonight, I'm listening to an episode of Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar... and apparently Alan Reed was a guest actor this episode, because I'm like "why am I hearing Fred Flinstone deny that he had his warehouse burned down for the insurance money...?"

Tonight's episode of The Big Broadcast played both episodes of Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar's 'The Squared Circle Matter'.

Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar is a 1950s radio show about a private insurance investigator, and I love it! It's full of historical details, because one of the premises of the show is Johnny Dollar (the insurance investigator) writes up his expense accounts on air. You get to hear how much a plane flight from Joplin, Missouri to Monterrey, Mexico cost in 1956, or what a diner breakfast cost, or a hotel room.

In this story, it is Johnny investigating a suspiciously high life insurance policy on a prize-fighter, who may be set up by his manager to take a fatal blow in his next fight.
