Having just read hesychasm lovely story The Persons We Were, I have to ask:

Can anyone recommend good stories where Sirius Black is recovered from the Veil, but he comes back wrong?

I can suggest 2 off the top of my head:

1) Turn to Ashes (http://archive.skyehawke.com/story.php?no=5039), by Ociwen. Remus/Sirius slash. In this story, Sirius comes back possessed.

2) Give and It Shall be Given Unto You (http://www.livejournal.com/community/merry_smutmas/70697.html), by Anon. Various pairings, including Harry/Snape and Harry/Draco. In this story, Sirius comes back, not so much *wrong* but *very* different.

Oh yes, 'Anon'. Right.

I've probably missed a lot of 'Wrong Sirius' because most Remus/Sirius stuff is too fluffy ridiculous for my tastes. It's rather frustrating because it's the one slash pairing I actually saw on my own when reading the books.

Re. Remus/Sirius, yes, very ditto. That tends to be my problem with a lot of the stories I've stumbled across. I know that many people love it, but it's a bit too fluffy for my personal taste. Like you, that's the pairing that leapt right out at me as well, back in PoA.

nimori wrote The Blaze of Noon (http://www.livejournal.com/users/nimori/73806.html) for merry_smutmas last year. Sirius returns deaf, dumb and blind. It's Snape/Harry/Sirius, rated NC-17, and there's a bit of NC-17 rated art on the top of that page, as well, so don't open it at work. :-)

I thought Harry would realise it was all A Big Mistake once he saw Sirius again, but Remus would be hurting a lot more in his understated, cardigan-wearing way...

Homebodies (http://glassonion.populli.org/archive/11/homebodies.shtml) by Telanu is an excellent post-veil fic where Sirius is just a touch wrong. I think you'd enjoy it. It has Harry/Sirius undertones.
