When 'A' and [livejournal.com profile] tricksterquinn were over here Saturday, I finally grafted together and blocked a scarf that I'd had all but finished since New Year's. It's made out of Noro Aurora, a wool/silk/kid mohair blend that is jazzed up with a shiny polyester filament that wraps around the yarn.

Blocking a Lace Scarf Blocking a Lace Scarf

I block using a foam blocking board and ball-headed pins. Lace can expand several inches widthwise when blocked, as this did. The middle of the scarf is 3x3 ribbing, so that it can be wrapped around the neck without scrunching the lace.

I bought two skeins of Noro Aurora (color 5) from Stitch, Piece and Purl in Cuyahoga Falls when visiting my sister for Christmas 2005. For that, I got the scarf-of-the-month pattern, a nice leaf-lace pattern. I modified it by adding a selvedge stitch on each edge, only doing 9 repeats of the pattern (on size 6), and knitting 3X3 rib (on size 3) to the end of each ball, then grafting in the middle.

Now, who to give it to..?

That is absolutely gorgeous! Congrats on the good job.

Did I tell you, I started knitting? I had to learn for the play I was in last fall. Since then, I haven't been able to stop. It's very, very relaxing.
