Recent Projects

I've finished several projects recently, and have good pictures for two of them.

	Cabled Beaded Mittens Cabled beaded mitten made from Cleckheaton yarn with beads from Beadazzled. Given to Aunt Bess, Christmas 2005.
	GBlvr's necklace Made from 3 silver-lined art beads, with green and clear silver-lined size 11 seed beads strung in interleaved Fibonacci sequences, from 1 to 21 beads. Given to gblvr

Sadly, beading is almost as addictive as knitting and crochet, and since it's comparatively quick to finish, it's hard not to get a little crazy with the shinyness of it all.

Ooh that's beautiful! I love the bracelet especially. Sadly the arthritis in my hands makes such work impossible now - although that's prolly a good thing - keeps me focussed on the writing! :p

I knew what you meant. The art-glass beads were lucky finds at the local bead bazaar back in November. I picked them up as we were heading towards the door.

The Fibonacci sequence is incredibly pleasing to the eye. I've used it in weaving as well, and if I could figure out how to do it other than as stripes, I'd probably incorporate it into my knitting and crochet too.

Is the fact that it's pleasing to the eye something to do with the make up of the sequence itself. I'm sure Dan Brown was banging on about those kind of things in the DiVinci Code but I wished to kill him by that point and wasn't paying attention. Is it connected to natural proportions or something?

The Fibonacci Sequence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibonacci_number#Fibonacci_numbers_in_nature) is one of the mathematical phenonema that is deceptively simple and nifty, and appears all over the place in nature.

It also coverges on the Golden Mean (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio), which is why it makes for the pretty.

Ah, that is exactly what he was talking about. Even the spiral graph is pretty. I have *never* said that about anything to do with maths before!

Mmm...I love my necklace. It's got a nice bit of weight to it, and the beads feel nice against my skin. Thank you again for the lovely gift.

I might want to take a better picture of it sometime. My digital camera is okay, but I get less jiggle with a film camera.

Instead of taking a picture with a camera, use a scanner, instead. I just went down to the local drugstore and used the Kodak picture maker thingie. I brought my own floppy to transfer the image onto, so they didn't charge me a cent to use it, as it didn't cost them anything either.
