How did I miss Anti-Craft? It's got wonderfully ghoulish knitting and crochet patterns, as well as gardening and cooking. It's the perfect antidote when Vogue Knitting publishs an issue full of pink 50's sweaters (nothing against retro sweaters, but the photographs were all of size 2 models in poofy skirts. :P )

And I really want to make the Snowball's Chance in Hell gauntlets, because really, is that not the neatest motif ever?

Also, their difficulty levels are hilarious -- Box of Rocks, Boy Scout Dropout, etc.

[livejournal.com profile] btralmnd introduced me to that site. I now have a doll head planter on my front porch to welcome my guests.

And yes, you really should make the gauntlets. ;D

I know! Crafting without the *twee* factor. I mean, I'm no goth, but I understand these people so much more than the ladies in the pink applique sweaters who think everything is "Just darling!".

Thankfully, I haven't met too many people like that, though that might be because I hang out with power-knitters. You know, the people who make 10 Fair Isle sweaters a year or have their own account with Jamieson and Smith (http://www.shetland-wool-brokers.zetnet.co.uk/).

But admittedly I'm a yarn snob and avoid synthetic unless someone I really likes makes a specific request.

Oh, I'm talking about the craft tv show ladies, with the fussy quilts and the elaborate scrapbook pages. They just seem to always wear pink, and like things in ways I just. Don't.

Yeah, when I was working nights and my mom still lived here, sometimes we'd watch the craft shows together and laugh.

Admittedly, I don't understand the appeal of scrapbooking, even though I know people who do it, but some of those craft shows are just *strange*.

On the other hand, one of my guild's member got to be on one last year for her techinique of 3-dimesional quilting. She does these really interesting quilted houses and things.

I agree with mamadeb. I almost want to start up crafting! I like their "antithesis" too. :D
