It's not the first time the DW writers would have done this, either. Nyssa's father was named Tremas before The Master got him.

Also, 'Harold Saxon'... is there any connotations there beyond Harold Godwinson? Anything that would resonant to the British audience?

Oops? The Master even wore the same coat for most of that body -- he was able to mess with Nyssa the first time they met after he'd done the bodysnatch, because she really thought he was her father.

I'm not entirely sure that *the Master* is who they're having be the Big Bag, but it certainly looks possible.
