ouch! (Pine Nut Day, 26th of Frost, Year 230)

fabrisse and I are attending DisCon/WorldCon this weekend -- she gave me a membership for Christmas 2019.

About 12:30, my ankle rolled as I was coming down the lobby stairs and I fell down at least two steps and crash on the marble floor. As this was in front of the whole lobby, the con medic and hotel medic were there in seconds.

They made sure I hadn't actually broken something first off, then got me water and ice pack, and a chair to sit in for a bit. I wrote up an incident report for the hotel medic, but declined an EMS or an ambulance.

fabrisse lent me her cane -- I had to adjust it because I'm 4-5 inches taller than her -- and she and the con medic got me to my next panel. Which was a fascinating lecture on shoe construction, because cons will occasionally let you talk about ANYTHING. But that wore me out.

fabrisse got me into a taxi and I went home. I'm not missing the con, since a lot of the panels are available online. I've taken aleve, and I might wind up in bed with my ankle propped up soon.

Oh noes! Shoe construction sounds like a fascinating panel though, and one I could actually have done with for my current QuiObi AU where Qui is a kinky Hungarian shoemaker LOL.

I used my wallet name for the incident report, because you know, there might be liability. Also, given that the hotel medic said that they have a person or two trip on those steps every week, why haven't they added non-slip surfaces to them?!

Yeah. We've been talking to the hotel about at least putting down some yellow tape for visibility or something; actual non-slip surfaces are a bit beyond what the convention can install but I sure wish the hotel would do it!
