I hate job hunting, because it feels so fake. I'm not an extravert at the best of time, and trying to sell myself just makes me prickly.

I've been playing phone-tag with a recruiter for over a week now. I'm rather frustrated, because I jazzed up my resume as she wanted (more references to jobs I held badly and for short periods of time, but which she thinks look good). She keeps wanting me to say I've got GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) experience, but really, I don't. The companies I worked for really didn't get that organized.

Also, she asked if I'd leave where I am (a temp job) for the same pay I'm making now. (I'm not). If I'd leave it for $2 more an hour (yes, but I'd really like more than that). She assumed I'm not getting benefits -- I am, even though I'm paying a lot into them.

The worst thing is that she assumed that I had a car, and when I said I didn't, acted like I was an alien. How was I planning to get to the job she was offering then? The same way I am *now*, by bus, as I go to a town *further* away than the one she mentioned to get where I am working now.

I really, REALLY dislike it when people who live in this area act like they don't know that other people actually use the public transportation system to get to work. 40% of the ridership of the Metro is federal employees; you'd think people might realize that 'hey, you can get places on a bus!' in this area. It might take longer than with a car, but if you plan ahead and are on a commuter line, you'll be fine. Anytime the buses are done in, it's not safe to drive either.

Re: Out of left field....

I'm not sure what kind of temp job you're looking for. I'm in biotechnology, which is kind of specialized. If you're more of an office-job type, I can ask a couple of friends.

I have no problem with you asking questions, I just don't know if my answers will help you.

Haha, I'm very much not in the biotechnology field- I'm looking more toward the office-job areas right now. Thanks, though.
