My brother is taking a business trip to Germany this week and has offered to get me something while he's there. I've suggested knitting yarn, since some of the better sock yarns (Regia, Opal, etc.) out there are from Germany companies. Does anyone have more specific suggests for me?

If it helps, he's going to Straubing in south-east Germany, and will be there over the weekend.

Chocolate. And they have some very nifty yarn bobbins shaped vaguely like fish that I really love (and am kind of upset that I only got one package and can't get more!)

Is he aware that it's the carnival weekend? I don't know how much the people of Straubing are into it's Bavarian version, called "Fasching" (in Munich it's quite a show), but maybe he should take his camera with him ;>)

I don't know if he's aware of it (we are Catholic, but carnival isn't celebrated publicly in most American cities), so I'll give him a heads up. I'd certainly like pictures of it.

He should bring you back a bottle of Glühwein. Or, well, any kind of wine, since German wine rocks and is often underappreciated because everyone focuses on the beer.

God, I miss good wine. Ecuador does not have good wine.

Ahh. Hmm. Well then, I agree with everyone else that he should bring you back very good chocolate.

I envy you both the wine and the sock yarn!
