Movie Rec: Spider-Man -- Into the Spiderverse (27th of Frost, Cork Day, Year 227)

I went to see Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse yesterday with greenygal, pleasance, fabrisse, and A Pseudonym to be Named Later.

It was amazing! It was gloriously beautifully comic-booky (and this despite the fact that we seemed to have gotten the 3D print instead of the regular one), the various art styles enhanced the story in the ways that the best comic art does (including use of written sound effects!), the actors all did phenomenal jobs, and there were real emotional beats that showed that there were real consequences.

And it had hands-down my favorite interpretations of Doctor Octopus ever!

Also, stay for the post-credits scene at the very end! It's a doozy!

PS I want to see it again, if anyone local is interested?

Yay! Where and when is good for you? We are blissfully free, so as long as it doesn't involve getting up early, we're game!

Silver Spring is closest, but if the Regal at Gallery Place is an option if you also want to visit the Downtown Holiday Market.

I can do either day — early to mid-afternoon is my preference.

Oh, Holiday Market and Regal sounds lovely. We cold metro in from opposite directions and meet there? At this point, either day is good for us too, and early/mid-afternoon also. L has Monday off work unexpectedly, so sleep is going to be less of an issue :)

I might end up going on Christmas--or I might just read Yuletide. Still dithering on that.

It's definitely worth seeing on the big screen.
