New Year's plans

Things to do this year --

• find new doctor-- get and go to appointment


• find new dentist -- get and go to appointment


• talk to financial planner


• frame and hang all art


• redo resume and submit it to at least one job a week


• plan garden and start seeds at appropriate dates


• buy and put up shelves


• buy and put up another bookcase


• buy a wardrobe/armoire and reorganize closet


• re-certifiy on CPR


• find local Habitat for Humanity or similar charity and volunteer


• find and take class on bicycling -- then get membership in Capital Bikeshare


• finish gloves for retiring co-worker


• finish sanj's sweater and send off


• knit 3 baby blankets for various pregnant co-workers


• knit alligator scarf for family friend


• find local knitting group -- found one if necessary


• restart dc_nonfiction_bookgroup


• start SF (or otherwise fannish) Friday weekly media watching group


• get winter boots resoled, if possible


• pay off credit card


• write Pacific Rim and Original DC Comics fics

And get some sleep in there somewhere...

That's quite a list, but to get anything done in this life, I've found that you need to have obtainable goals. I've got a list of 10 myself. I might even post it. :-)

Fortunately, my to-do items group into things like "medical", "about the house", "hobbies", "life improvement". I also know what I'm likely to fall down on, so maybe I can plan those areas a bit more aggressively than the easier things.

Most of my stuff is either doing something over the course of time -- like reading 25 real books or exercise related or volunteer related. House stuff is in a totally different category because that has to get done or things get worse.

Well, yes for you the house stuff is in a different category. For me, one of the delights of renting is that it is the housing office's responsibility if my toilet stops working or my heat goes out.

Actually, carving out time for volunteer stuff will probably be the hardest, though I still want to do it.

You know, I think it's hard for everyone. I try and do things that interest me. Like volunteering for races. Helping to feed people.

That is a great list! I like how you have both larger and smaller goals, might make it a bit easier to accomplish most of them.
