Flickr advice?

Ever since Flickr redesigned things, I've found it a pain to use. Mainly because the main page is busy and I can't find the tools to sort and tag my photos easily.

Does anyone have any suggestions for work-arounds or good how-to guides for the new Flickr layout. Or should I just consider other photo-hosting sites?

What do you need to do?

I've been using it a lot lately so I have a pretty good handle on it. If you're in a set choose edit from the medium-level menu, and it goes to the set organize screen that they used to have. If you're in your photostream, go to the ... on the far right of the medium menu, and you get the batch organize screen.

Oh! Oh! You know stuff! Is there any way to deal with the search results? I use Creative Commons a lot at work, and I hate working with the new search results screen.

I haven't used search before, but I can try. What is it you want to do?

I just did a search on the first thing that popped into my head ('porpoise') and now I have a screen full of porpoise pictures on infinite scroll. Mousing over gives me the user-given title and the username associated with each picture. Okay, there's one I like. I can save it to my favorites by clicking on the little star that shows up when I hover, or just click on the picture itself and I open up the picture. Then I click on the thing that looks like a three-sided box with an arrow, and I get the share menu, so I can grab the link or the code. If I just want the URL I copy the box and paste it to an editor, and select the img src code. To download, click the ... on the far right of the lower menu, and you get the choice to download.

Does that help at all?

If I use the advanced search http://www.flickr.com/search/advanced I can restrict it to works with a creative commons license, but you probably knew that already (I didn't!)

Right now, I'd like to turn off the infinite scroll -- seriously, I hate that feature everywhere I see it, and turn it off if I can -- and have my default page be the set/batch organize screen.

Basically, I want to easily add tags and captions, organize photos into sets, and be able to grab the html for an image without having to fight through a menu of extraneous options along the way.

But I have too much invested in Flickr and don't want to move to another service.

Sadly, I have so much linked from Flickr on Ravelry and Growstuff that I don't know if I *can* easily leave, but I am turned off enough by the new interface that I don't upload images at anything near the rate I used to.
