Work today at least had a change of pace -- a bat showed up.

My boss kind of freaked out and cancelled working in that building for the rest of the day, but I don't blame him. Bats are a common rabies vector, and I don't want one flying over my head while I'm trying to get work done -- it's highly distracting.

Anyway, the job wasn't completely awful today on account of animal invasion.

In my head I know that bats are kinda awesome (they have sonar!). But every time I've been around one, I have this deep-seated urge to duck and run. One time I woke up to one in my apt., and next thing I knew I was in the bathroom wearing a hooded parka. Given that they do carry rabies, it's probably just as well -- but I can't pretend I was thinking about rabies vectors at the time. It was pure, instinctive fear.
