There's an A/B/O Femslash & Het Ficathon! I'm so tempted, because I really like the SF elements of A/B/O when it's done well, but there's only one month to write the stories, and that's generally not enough time for me to actually finish something.

I can't quite figure out what fandoms are eligible for that ficathon.

I think it's any fandom you want to write, as long as you focus on the female characters.

Do you have any casual recs for well-done SF elements? I am signed up for the fest but starting to get intimidated about not doing the trope "right".

Hmmm... I think amorremanet's Ineffective Synonyms (which is RPS), is very good in the way that it goes "No, really, humans have all sorts of fuzzy sexual categories, why would having A/B/O as biological categories make things any easier"... in other words, what happens if you're Omega and asexual. Or Alpha and female, or any other non-standard sexual identity.

That the kind of story I'd probably write, except not RPS since I don't write it.

Also, my story for the Gabriel Big Bang last time round (Homo Homini Lupus Est) was kind of A/B/O as well as a werewolf AU. Basically I was trying to figure out "men getting pregnant, how does that work?" -- I came up with the idea that there were 6 recognized genders in that society, with different levels of privilege and certain gender pairings more prestigious for marriage than others.

That does sound interesting and I've been craving more female centric A/B/O fic. I'm just not sure of the timing as I have several deadlines around that time frame. This time of the year is so busy for fic exchanges.

Yup, this time of year is terribly busy for fic challenges of all sorts -- though this one isn't an exchange, it's just a write-your-own-plot challenge.

I certainly want to know more about women in A/B/O worlds, since it seems like a lot of the time that's not explored at all.

I'm going to keep an eye on the com to see if they do another round later one. I already have a couple of ideas to play with. Like an Omega at the end of her cycle or a young Omega going through her fist full heat.
