Delicious seems to be grabbing fanart for its own purposes ...
faceofcathy mentioned it in her post of 27 September. I had noticed really crappy screencaps (or what looked like screencaps) of icons and/or text files appearing on the pages for shared bookmarks, but I hadn't realized they were grabbing whatever was the most prominent image off the page.
Not until I was poking around tonight, trying to determine whether they fixed any of the problems that drove me batshit and into the arms of Pinboard (they haven't, btw) did I really notice this situation. But when I checked to see the 'saved by others' status of my Big Bang from this year, I saw the banner that
cashay made for my story. It's only showing up on the bookmark that goes to the Dreamwidth version, not the AO3 version, but I don't even know how to word my complaint. "Don't use my fan-made photomanipulation!" sounds kind of hypocritical, because I certainly didn't pay licensing fees to use those images in a photomontage. But it's very creepy that Delicious is just grabbing them, at least imo.

I should check for webcomics, see if they're doing it to them. It'd be the fastest way to check, since those are definitely image-intensive sites.
