I, like many other people, got the Netflix apology in my email this morning. I was underwhelmed.

The idea of splitting the service into a streaming service and a re-named DVD-by-mail service didn't make me happy either. For one thing, it looks suspiciously like they're planning on dumping the DVD service sometime in the future, at least to me. Given that what I want to watch is by a wide majority is only available as DVD -- documentaries, foreign movies and tv, and weird indie things -- this is the reason I dropped the streaming service two months ago when they tried to jack the prices up outrageously.

At the moment, I'm probably going to drop my subscription by one disk anyway -- I'm just not watching media like I used to -- Netflix/Qwikster might lose me as a customer entirely if I find an option that is better for me. I hear Blockbuster and Amazon Prime are worth investigating...

I haven't gotten the email, and I'm subscribed to Netflix. I've heard about it, but apparently they just didn't bother to include me in this apology/explanation. La la la.

I read a friend's comment on Twitter and had googled to find out what she was talking about before I actually received the e-mail. I'm annoyed because I don't have any convenient streaming options amongst my available electronics and this means I'm likely to cancel my Netflix account entirely and move to the Quikster alone -- but when I tried logging in to either site a day or two ago, Netflix wouldn't let me log in and the Qwikster website didn't have anything up yet.

I guess there's no hurry to watch and send back the four Netflix DVDs I have sitting at home.

I may have just been having a brain fail and forgetting my password, or clicking the wrong button or some such. I just tried it now and it let me log in just fine. Still, not rushing to watch the movies I have at home.
