Small Press Expo is this weekend at the Bethseda North Marriott -- it's the regions best comics convention for small and self-published works. It's $10 for a day pass, $15 for both days. If you're interested in comics and cartooning as artforms and story-telling, it's a great place to be.

[personal profile] ellen_fremedon and I are planning on attending the talk by Kate Beaton [livejournal.com profile] beatonna of Hark! A Vagrant and Roz Chast on cartoons and cartooning for The New Yorker at noon.

On Sunday, the Takoma Park Folk Fest will be held on the grounds of Piney Branch Middle School from 11am to 6pm. This is a free, indoor-outdoor folk music festival with 7 stages showcasing music, dance, and storytelling.

I've traded some shifts around, so I'm officially off work all day Saturday. :)

I think I will be going to the Small Press Expo; I'd like to hear the History of Women in Comics panel.
