We got snow last night, which would have been fine, except that it was followed by freezing rain, my least favorite winter weather that doesn't involve tornados.
The parking lot is iced over, to the point of it being a skating rink -- I tried walking along its edges to get to the sidewalk, since that's the only way out to the street, and kept sliding back. I'm going to wait until the sun actually comes up and try again later. Fortunately, my supervisor is also an apartment-dweller in the area, and he'll understand about the ice being too hazardous to navigate. Especially since the likelihood of any of the sidewalks being cleared yet is miniscule. If I'm going to have to navigate a half inch of ice, I'd rather do it with light to see by.
Now I think I'll go dig my alpenstock out of the closet. This kind of weather is why I even own it.
