I've written 812 words of my Gabriel Big Bang, anyway, so I'm at least moving in the right direction. It's going to be a bit gruesome, what with finally writing Tlaloc showing up.
I've decided maybe the problem was having that I was avoiding the climax scenes with the fight between Sam, Gabriel, and the gods because I thought if I wrote that I wouldn't be intersted in writing the rest of the story... but since I wasn't writing the rest of the story anyway, I figured -- what the hell, write the climactic fight scene where everything gets revealed.
Given how much I disliked "Hammer of the Gods", I'm apparently stealing a lot from it. Huh...
