Incompetency porn, that's a great term for it. This is why the Dale and Skylar plot was so interesting to me...these two kids left to fend for themselves, and how well they end up doing, those hints of danger in Dale having some financial power for the first time in his life and letting it go to his head.
It really would have been better off as a post-apocalypse scifi show instead of a conspiracy thriller set against an apocalypse, you can tell they did the bare minimum of research.
