neotoma: Grommit knits, and so do I (GrommitKnitting)
( Jan. 25th, 2009 07:55 pm)
My tiny cross-stitch project is going well. I was able to put three hours into it this evening, and it's looking very leek-y.

Leek! )

So, I'm looking for more Textile Heritage kits -- I suppose I could order them for the company directly, but I'd rather not as the exchange rate is never good. Anyone know of a US needlework supplier that carries them? Preferably in the DC Metro area, but I'm willing to order on-line if I have to.
So, last night [livejournal.com profile] twistedchick and I went to see Groovelily perform. It was at the Black Rock, which is a wonderful theater for performances, being both small and yet not cramped. The band was great, and they are coming out with their second fairy-tale musical album soon. I bought Striking 12 last night, the one about the Little Match Girl -- the new one is based off Sleeping Beauty and has some lovely songs which they did amid old favorites.

I'm thinking about going to the Mark Morris Dance Group performance at the Kennedy Center on Friday or Saturday. Is anyone interested in coming with me?

[livejournal.com profile] twistedchick, [livejournal.com profile] cincodemaygirl and I are going to see the Tannahill Weavers on Feb 16th at the Institute of Musical Traditions concert. I hope to go to the Tanglefoot concert in May as well. The nice thing about where I live is I can go to the House of Musical Traditions and buy the tickets directly -- it saves the processing fee, at least.

I'm also thinking about going back to the dance class at the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange -- they've moved the starting time back 15 minutes, so I'll actually be able to make the Tuesday class.

I've also signed up for a class on Tunisian Crochet at the local gift shop -- they carry a wall of yarn, and have some basic classes every season. I've actually done a little bit of Tunisian Crochet through my guild's crochet study group, but I don't know anything beyond single stitch, and that with a double-ended hook.
