This is from 1952 -- Superman speaking out in favor of supporting hospitals and public health services with taxes and contributions. This strike me pretty close to home -- my mother's hyperopia was diagnosed by a public health nurse in the 1940s when she noticed my mother was having trouble reading the cartoons in the paper. Do public health nurses even *exist* anymore?
The issues have barely changed in over 50 years. We've just added complexity and blame on top of them... You'd think it wouldn't take over two generations to figure out that health-care for all might be a good idea.
