Wow, I think I'm in love!

axiom_of_stripe has been reccing The Batman for quite a while now, and I finally got the first season disc one from Netflix.

The art is gorgeous! The animation is seamless -- the backgrounds never seem static or like flat,and there are some lovely perspective tricks. The style reminds me strongly of The Maxx, an older series that had some amazing stylization itself.

It's amazing how young this Bruce is -- mid to late twenties is my guess. And Alfred is canonically an ex-military medic.

The best thing is it is only supposed to get better!

So far, the Penguin is a complete sleaze, and is designed off a rockhopper! squeee! Joker wears a customized straight-jacket and fights using Drunken Monkey! It's not 'The Brave and the Bold', but it's pretty and apparently gets lots better in the second season.
