The first time you wash a pair new green pants, you forget a black pen in another pair of jeans...

(I have NO idea how to get the ink out, but I'll just have to keep trying, because these were cute pants and not so cheap that I can just toss them)...

Maybe try here (http://www.chemistry.co.nz/stain_frame.htm) for some suggestions? Good luck

Hmm... so I can look for Citra-Solv at the co-op, or try rubbing alcohol to dissolve the ink.

Rubbing alcohol, dripped on over a bowl. Or the sink, with the area of the spot sitting in it. But have *a lot* of it, because you'll want to drip it on over and over to make sure it's all out. Rinsing with water will not help.

It's a lot of splotches. The pen came apart in the dryer, as far as I can tell -- fortunately I checked halfway through the cycle, so I don't think they got dry enough to set.

Think I can get a liter of rubbing alcohol at the Giant or CVS?

My local spot expert suggested you make a dam of petroleum jelly around the spot so that the ink doesn't spread to unaffected parts of the fabric, THEN drip drip drip the alcohol, followed by scrubbing like a madman.

So sayeth my twelve year old who does all our stain fighting and has saved more than one pair of pants from my habit of walking around with pens in my pockets.

Probably. CVS should have it in first aid, or something similar.

Supermarkets, some newsagents and stationery stores, and most hardware stores will sell specialist ink removing products.
