I have *never* bitten into a banana and gone "Mmmmmm"... until yesterday.

The Fair Trade bananas that I bought at the co-op are so good that I made happy noises. Well, worth the extra cost, then.

I don't have a similar reaction to Fair Trade chocolate, though I do try to buy it because I'd rather not support slavery, so I am fairly surprised.

Has anyone else found another surprisingly good Fair Trade food?

Unfortunately, the Fair Trade chocolate I've bought sucked. Big time.

What brand was it? I've had good luck with Equal Exchange chocolate bars, and the one Fair Trade bar that Dagobah puts out.

I have to admit I've noticed a surprising improvement in Marks & Spencer's tea (Kenyan) since they went Fair Trade. Then again, over here Lipton Yellow Label is considered posh tea...

Some Fair Trade coffee is wonderful, too. Seattle's Best has some of the better examples. Organic, too. :)

The Fairtrade bananas we get in the UK seem to mostly be from the Windward Islands, while the regular ones seem to be mostly from Dominica. so I wonder if they aren't a different variety. The Faritrade ones are definitely smaller and tastier.

Some Fairtrade tea is excellent, but again I wonder if it isn't the variety; the best is from Sri Lanka.

We also get an organic Fairtrade chocoate called Maya Gold from Green and Black's, which is very good indeed. I don't know if you can get them in the US, but they are well worth trying; dark chocolate flavoured (but not too strongly) with orange and spices, and also available as a spectacularly good hot chocolate mix.

We can get Green and Black's chocolate in my area, but I don't remember seeing a Fair Trade logo, just the organic one. That said, I haven't been really impressed with G&B, though a friend loves it.
