1. Colonial overshot patterns:
   Colonial Overshot patterns are the first weaving patterns that I wove into projects from scratch, instead of adapting an already written pattern for my own use. My absolute favorite is the Cat Tracks Snail Trails pattern (AKA the Wandering Vine), and my weaving icon is a scarf I made in it from black cotton and neon pink acrylic.
2. egon spengler:
   Egon Spengler, my earliest geek identifier -- the one from the toon -- who is smart and dense and mulish. I tend to fall for his type of character, which is why Severus Snape and Qui-Gon Jinn are wandering around my LJ too...
3. fanfic:
   What's to say? Slash, het, or gen, I'll read it all as long as it's good. But good gen is the best, and the hardest to find.
4. hogwarts scarves:
   I'm knitting one at the moment, and will be running a meet-up for knitters at The Witching Hour. It will be interesting, though I'm going to drive everyone nuts with the non-standard yarn and random modifications I've made to the pattern. Anyone who lives near me and wants to learn to knit one just needs to contact me for a free weekend lesson.
5. lord of the rings:
   Books I read when I was wee -- well, my mom read The Hobbit *to* me -- and have remained dear to my heart ever since.
6. minerva/severus:
   They're rivals and friends and adversaries, and completely fascinating.
7. promethea:
   Alan Moore's graphic novel series about mysticism and the occult. Amazingly well done and beautiful. Promethea is a story of Inspiration, and everyone who carries about how imagination, reality, and the soul interact should really read it.
8. sabertooth cats:
   Saber teeth are a fascinating adapatation that arose *four* times in mammals. Creodonts, thylacosmilus, nimravids, and sabercats. They are SO cool, and I've actually held a Nanosmilus kurteni skull in my hands -- a false sabercat about the size of a bobcat. *SO* cool.
9. severus/minerva:
   See above
10. snape/lupin:
    Messy, fraught relationship that should be less fluffy than Lupin/Black, but winds up being almost as badly handled by fluff-writers. Sigh...
