Is there anything nicer than going to a fairgrounds to wander about with 2000 other people looking at wool and sheep?
Saturday I went up with
twistedchick and
ellen_fremedom, and met up with
gblvr. It was fun, and I spent most of the day playing knitting-guru and not buying all that much, actually.
I got both my hats fixed, and ordered a surcoat from the local costumer. She very kindly warned me off putting blue feathers on my hat at SCA events, but when she explained *why*, I almost fell over laughing. It's SO not a problem.
Sunday, I went up with my skeet-partner and wandered around some more. It was wonderfully less crowded than Saturday, as it was Mother's Day and all the ladies who'd come the day before were stuck at home with their families.
In total I bought:
a market basket (and was asked by 5 people where I'd gotten it!)
a wool blanket
two pairs worth of sock yarn
a few books
twistedchick's birthday present
a black walnut lucet and a heavy spindle from Golding Ring
an ounce of dyed silk
two tomato plants -- one a patio variety, one a dwarf that is supposed to fit in a window box
white and off-white hemp twine to cardweave with
rainbow dyed hemp twine for the lucet
beautiful Montadale/mohair yarn to make a Ravenclaw PoA Scarf
I also got the news that the silver bracelet with the dragon-head finials -- the one that I've been drooling over for 2 and 1/2 years -- is finally being made in my size. I've just got to make it to the Potomac Celtic Festival and buy it then (so I'll be eating beans and rice for a while...)
All in all, it was a good weekend.

As I said, so *not* a problem.
As the dress is intended to be suitable for Harry Potter shindigs as well as SCA things, I'm asking for blue trimmed with bronze. I'll wear matching feathers on my hat -- and since blue feathers *aren't* any sort of earned accolade marker, I won't be stepping on anyone's toes wearing them.
