I can not recommend enough
agirlfriday's fan art of Tim Hunter and Harry Potter.
Personally, I'd title it 'Come and get your arse kicked', because that is exactly what will happen in about three seconds.
If you aren't familiar with The Books of Magic, Tim Hunter is an Opener, a very special kind of a magician. He's something like a conduit through which magic flows into the world, and something like the pivot point of reality.
To give you an idea of his power, when he was 12 (13?), he stopped a murderous golem sent after him by a very shady character -- by drawing a smiley face on it, declaring he was renaming it ('Happy the Golem'), and claiming it for his own. When he was a small child, he *created* creatures of his imagination just because he believed they existed -- beings such as the Wobbley, the Narls, and Awn the Blink; they showed up again when he was a teen and consciously discovering his power.
The real interesting thing is that Tim is not particularly violent. He has a bit of a temper, yes, but when people come after him with ill intent, what normally happens is that they get their world rattled so badly that they are either not interested in attacking any more, or not capable of it. Tim's given the collywobbles to John Constantine, taken out a Manticore by reversing the taxidermy of an unicorn, defeated a Duke of Hell with Love, and and unmade an angel by speaking her name backwards in the language of creation.
Basically, if Harry's a weapon to use against Voldemort, Tim's the Genesis Device from Star Trek -- he both destroys and recreates. You can no more make use him for your own ends than you can plug your toaster-oven into the sun.
I would so love to see a story to go with this art. Or just recommendations for any good Books of Magic/Potterverse crossover.
