So I went to the Crafty Bastards fair yesterday (report here), and thus was at Union Market. Tasty, tasty Union market...
I have all sorts of ideas for Thanksgiving dinner, and it will be glorious!
This year, ellen_fremedom and I are co-hosting, with a roast, a chicken, a variety of soft drinks and starchy foods to be indulged in.
What we need now is a head count...
Right now it looks like it will probably be a gluten-free Thankgiving, but that's not a worry -- Thanksgiving is all about alternative starches! Sweet potato pie, pumpkin soup, and corn fritters for everybody!

- gluten (wheat, rye, barley). Sadly there is no wiggle room on this for me anymore. ;____;
- onions (I can't ingest them, but they can still be used for cooking if they're in large pieces that I can avoid and if they've been cut up an hour or two before I arrive as the fumes will give me a terrible headache. I know this one is rough, and I am happy to avoid pieces or dishes where the onion is necessary!)
- MSG, caffeine, and chocolate are all migraine triggers for me so sadly I must avoid them like the plague.
Those are the actual allergies; I also loathe cilantro, pumpkin, and just about anything bitter (kale, grapefruit, cabbage).
All that said (ugh--I miss the days when I was only allergic to onions SO MUCH), none of my reactions are anaphylactic, so any of these ingredients can be used, I just can't ingest them. Otherwise I'd basically never be able to leave my house again. /o\
Also, I would like to bring something that's not too hard to transport, as I think each of your new places are a bus + fair walk. I'm still dreaming of E's pavlova; I'd offer to make that but I'm not sure my oven wouldn't just incinerate it (it has two settings, off and FIRE). The only other idea I have is green bean casserole (gluten-free cream of mushroom soup exists!), which I would top with toasted almonds instead of fried onions. Any other suggestions would be welcome, dessert or otherwise!
