So, Team Free Will (
team_free_love) is having a Gabriel-centric writing exchange -- 2000+ words based on one of five prompts matched to my willw-writes and won't-writes, due by Oct 25. I think I can probably do that, except that I'm in great danger of overshooting the word count by a factor of ten. But I've been pretty successful at writing for prompted challenges with a set deadline.
There is also a Gabriel Big Band (
gabriel_bigbang) that would give me four months to write a story. I'd have no problem meeting the word count -- or exceeding it -- but finishing it might be beyond me unless I avoid all of season 6 until I get finished, and they don't seem be requiring prompts, or even offering them. I haven't been successful at finishing stuff on my own, so I'm hesitant -- I work better when I *owe* it to some, even if it's just because I promised I would get the thing finished. The other problem is that I couldn't use any of the things I've already posted fragments of on the internet (which is everything I have, except maybe The Man Comes Around). The only non-posted idea I have is the Jericho/SPN xover, and I wasn't going to use Gabriel as main character, or even a viewpoint character -- I suppose I could rework the idea, since Gabriel would be an observer in his Vessel's head, but he wouldn't be an active character until the end (because I suspect that nuclear bombs are not good for angels, and other living creatures).
Either way, I'd need an alpha reader/cheerleader who was willing to meet me in chat at least once a week and listen to me ramble as I work out the plot and read the fragments as I come up with them -- it'd be a LOT of work for someone who'd have to put up with me and my writing quirks. I suppose I could offer a handknit scarf as compensation...
