how cute Xmen: First Class is? I've just read the miniseries, and now I'm going to have to add the ongoing series to my pull list, because it is SO CUTE.

No, really so CUTE!

Jeff Parker writes wonderful scripts, and makes the original Xmen charming and goofy -- I *love* this Bobby Drake! Such a doofus! -- and fun! All the characters get to shine, and the in-jokes if you know the canon are neat, but not required to enjoy the stories!

It's such a nice break from the melodrama and soap opera of the other titles in the Xmen line. Joss Whendon's run on Astonishing is good (and Cassaday's art is gorgoeus), but Parker and artist Roger Cruz get to play. Colleen Coover's occasional back-up pieces are adorable.

My favorite recurring bit is where anyone who needs some cash just goes to Warren's room and takes some off the pile atop his dresser.

It *is*. I'll burn you a copy of the miniseries,if you'd like.

I love issue 8, when they all wake up in the middle of the night, and the artist gave all the boys wacky bed-hair. You just want to scruff them up!

That would be lovely if you didn't mind.

Hehe, comic bed-head! :)

Of course it was.

When do you think we'll be in the same place again so I know to bring a disk?

That's an excellent question. Perhaps at the Men at Arms reading?
