My experience is that written instructions aren't very clear for handicrafts, and that drawings are necessary if you're not being shown in person.
But YouTube is the solution for all your ills, if you need something demonstrated. There is invariably *someone* with a video camera and the same interest. Music tutorials on YouTube are pretty awesome -- could knitting be far behind?
