New Sox!

I bought some yarn last month with [livejournal.com profile] twistedchick. It was more or less accidental that we went by the local yarn shop when looking for a place to eat lunch. They were having a really drastic sale, so I picked up a few thing.

Made on size 0 circulars, following the generic Regia 4-faedig pattern for size 8/9. Just the thing for a cold February day.

As an addendum, anyone who is interested in textiles, Susan McCauley of Mekong River Textiles is giving a talk, "Ikat Textiles from Thailand, Laos and Cambodia" at the Textile Museum, at 10 am on Saturday, February 24th. It'll be a real treat.

Oh pretty, pretty! I've got a scarf I'm (slowly) knitting. Once that's done I'd like to try sox - they look so nice and I'm keen on actually making sox that might fit me. :) Love the colors in the ones you did.

If you want to try socks, there are a LOT of self-patterning yarns out there. Regia was the first, but almost every brand makes a self-striping yarn now. I can recommend a lot of different ones, depending on how much you want to spend, what weight you prefer to knit with, and pricing.

Love the Regia yarns. I've used both the wool/poly and cotton/wool/poly versions. They both hold up very nicely for everyday socks. You won't believe the change in the hand of the knitted fabric after you wash them for the first time.

I do hand wash and dry all my handknit socks on sock blockers, but technically you can machine wash these (I'd use a cool, gentle cycle just to be sure they don't felt).

I do love me some handknitted socks *G*
