Oh, I know everyone finds the annual self-eval really frustrating, but I just feel adrift. I have almost no idea what to write for it. My actual goal is 'work somewhere where I have advancement opportunities and never have to go into a -20C freezer on a regular basis again'.

That's not actually that helpful, or at least not the kind of positive goals the company likes to see.
