O NOM NOM NOM!

So I went to the Crafty Bastards fair yesterday (report here), and thus was at Union Market. Tasty, tasty Union market...

I have all sorts of ideas for Thanksgiving dinner, and it will be glorious!

This year, ellen_fremedom and I are co-hosting, with a roast, a chicken, a variety of soft drinks and starchy foods to be indulged in.

What we need now is a head count...

Right now it looks like it will probably be a gluten-free Thankgiving, but that's not a worry -- Thanksgiving is all about alternative starches! Sweet potato pie, pumpkin soup, and corn fritters for everybody!

I've only made Bob's Red Mill cornbread mix, which I got from Whole Foods and liked pretty well! But as for the stock, stock made with onions/alliums is fine so long as you weren't planning on pureeing the vegetable matter into it or anything. It seems as though I really have to ingest onion pieces to have a reaction--see my explaination abovethread.

Also, I really like corn pudding! I could even potentially make it? I have a recipe that, iirc, is about 1/3rd butter.

AWESOME. I vote for corn pudding instead of stuffing, in that case. Do you want to make it?

I was going to say yes, but then I thought of transporting a hot casserole dish on the bus. Maybe I can bring sparkling cider and cookies? Do you need anything that's not too hard to transport? /o\

Hmm. Do you want to make a green salad? I haven't bought salad greens yet.

Or you could come over early and make corn pudding in my kitchen, or sous-chef for me while I make it. That might actually be the easiest thing.

I would be delighted to sous-chef! Just let me know if there are ingredients I should bring and when I should come over (how early?); I was planning on going to the grocery on Tuesday, probably.

Corn, definitely. What else does your corn pudding recipe call for, and in what quantities?
