I think in my ideal ending they would end the movie still not liking each other particularly, but after seeing the guy throw his mistress aside so casually for "Madame Satan", the mistress would realize that the guy was neither reliable nor respectful and she could do better, and the wife would realize that a guy this fickle and shallow was not worth her getting back, and they would collaborate in some way, maybe getting each other off the airship, and then separately shut the doors of their homes in his face.
