Thanksgiving Plans

So I'm doing a joint Thanksgiving dinner with ellen_fremedon, half vegan, half omnivore.

I'm thinking of making sauerbraten and spaetzle instead of a turkey. One, I like sauerbraten and think of it as holiday food. Two, it will be a lot easier to transport than a roast turkey. Three, I will definitely eat the leftovers, if there are any -- there weren't the last time I made sauerbraten for a party.

Argh, now I am craving sauerbraten.

I am going to visit my dad for Thanksgiving, and their one German restaurant that used to be one of our usual post-TG outings has closed. :(

Yeah, I kind of wish I could afford a meal at Cafe Berlin right now.

Maybe I have enough bacon and potatoes to make heiserkartoffelsalat? That's almost as good.
