Ugh... broken A/C

So, I get home today, and my apartment is 85 degrees.

The A/C is running, but not pumping any cool air -- I've called the housing office, and the maintenance guy has arrived, but I'm seriously considering turning on the box fan and opening the windows.

Oh gross. I'm sorry. I'd offer our basement apt but it's a bit too far for you!

Thankfully, the maintenance guy did figure out what was wrong -- the capacitor was totally shot -- and fixed it. The A/C is working again.

(I'm a little afraid to leave the basement, it's probably that upstairs.)

Well, I live in an apartment, so no basement to retreat to. OTOH, I lived in a basement apartment for 5 years, and I'm never doing that again -- flooding is an issue in this area.
