You know, if you're recruiting for a job, wouldn't you mention in advance that you were going to require people to work alternate Sundays? It seems to me like that just *might* be an important thing for prospective employees to know.

I don't know if it was Big Company or Temp Agency that failed to pass along the idea that 'occasional overtime' meant 'extra eight hours every other *week*', but combined with the awful commute and early hours, alternate Sundays broke the deal for me. I could have coped with the first two, but I am not giving up my weekends for any job.

I think I'm annoyed mostly because I *did* ask what the overtime schedule was like during my interview -- was it voluntary or mandatory, and such. They answered in a way that made it sound like the fermentation workers had a rotating weekend schedule, but not the section I was being considered for.

Oh well. At least I'm not stressing over the job offer anymore.

I did ask, and I *thought* that they said that it was the fermentation workers who had rotating weekends -- the fermentation workers also do 12 hour/3day per week shifts, which I wouldn't take for twice the money.
