I have to say, with the Veil and the voices behind it in OotP, I fully expected HBP to be a quest tale. That it wasn't, and that the Veil wasn't even touched on, surprised the heck out of me.
I think Book 7 has to be a Quest Story. The mentor figure is dead, the Hero must confront his dark side, and that means a trip to the Underworld. Harry's on a Hero's Journey right now; let's just hope he doesn't screw it up.
